The Calgary International Film Festival

At the biggest film festival in Alberta, there's something for everyone.

With 200+ different short films and features to choose from, it can seem daunting to try to pick out just a few, but here's a handy glossary list of our major sections to get you started.

The Calgary International Film Festival returns September 24 to October 4, and starting this Friday, The Plaza is part of it again.

This year’s lineup on our screen includes Run Terry Run, featuring never-before-seen footage from Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope, Cannes Palme d’Or winner Fjord, James McAvoy’s directorial debut California Schemin’, and Sundance documentary winner Nuisance Bear.

Also screening at The Plaza is the world premiere of WWW: The Women’s Group, which moves through the bars, cafés and familiar corners of Kensington, with our theatre appearing as part of the neighbourhood itself.

Festival week always brings a different energy to Calgary, and we’re very happy to have CIFF back through our doors.
